About this event

Ffion Taverner is joining us at the Floristry School hosting a Natural Colour Workshop.

Ffion Taverner is an artist who specialises in Natural Dyes which are often sourced from her surroundings in rural Wales. Ffion has completed an Instructional Artist Residency specialising in Natural Dyes with Arquetopia in Peru 2019 which delved into the tradition of colour within Peruvian culture. More recently Ffion has been working at the Dye Atelier of Studio Claudy Jongstra in The Netherlands.

Focussing on botanicals that are currently in bloom, we will explore the potential of working with flowers and plants to achieve an array of colours and texture onto fabrics, working with silk, linen and hemp. You will be introduced into working with looser methods of making, creating imprints and stains onto fabric, using the bundle dye technique.

This workshop will be inspired by the Floristry School, focussing on the deconstruction of flowers and foliage, understanding their potential as colour and texture but onto fabric instead.? It will be an explorative session encouraging experimentation, a space to understand the potential magic of natural colour and sustainable practices.

You will leave this workshop with a number of fabric experiments as well as lengths of dyed ribbons and a small materials guide to continue your discoveries in your own time.?

Please bring along a notebook and pencil and an over shirt or apron, everything else will be provided for you.?

This cost of this course is: £50.00 pp (concessions available for lower income earners).

This course will also run again in October 2022.
