About this course

The core elements of the level 4 higher diploma are based around design development and enhancing your knowledge of techniques within the industry and being able to use them in a profitable and commercial setting. You will also develop and adapt your current knowledge, skills and understanding of the floral industry whilst working on trend development and style.

There are 10 units which need to be completed to successfully pass the level 4.

1: Botanical concepts and practices for floristry
2: Historical studies for floristry
3: Floral event practices
4. Business practices for floristry
5: Marketing and promotion practices for floristry
6: Technical floristry skills – Tied designs
7: Technical floristry skills – Wired and Glued designs
8: Technical floristry skills – Designs in a Medium
9: Technical floristry skills – Design Trends
10: Design concepts for floristry.

The course starts 17th April 2023 runs over 35 Academic weeks (every Monday). Additional mid-week optional workshops and training days will be added throughout the academic year for students to enhance and develop their skills away from their retail space in the training environment.

At the end of the training period all students will be expected to sit two examinations (July 2024), one theory and one practical and will have developed a design portfolio of evidence for a minimum of 30, higher level, commercial designs.

Successful completion of the course and the examinations will entitle a student to be a Licentiate member of the IoPF.
